As a member of the Saturno Consortium, GCFE was awarded the construction of the technological installations for the Milan – Genoa, Terzo Valico dei Giovi high-speed line.
A fundamental part of the TEN-T Rhine-Alps Core Corridor, the new Milan – Genoa, Terzo Valico line is intended to improve the connections of the port system of the Liguria Region with the main railway lines in Northern Italy and with the rest of Europe.
The project covers a total length of 53 km, 37 km of which are in tunnels, and involves 14 municipalities crossing the provinces of Genoa and Alessandria and the regions of Liguria and Piedmont. The new route will be powered at 3kV DC, with a design speed of 200/250 km/h and will be connected to the existing lines through four junction points: the Voltri interconnection, Genoa (Bivio Fegino), Novi Ligure and Tortona.
Within the Consortium, GCFE is the Leader for the 3kV DC Contact Line technologies (with predisposition to the 25 kV AC system), 132 kV HV Power Lines, Remote Control system on the entire line and fire-fighting system in buildings and bypass.
The company’s scope of work also encompasses design and construction of Substations and Low Voltage Power Supply including safety in tunnel.
