A century of infrastructure. A century of our story.
Our journey began on 17 June 1926, when SAE – Società Anonima Elettrificazione was founded after winning the contract to electrify the Bolzano–Brenner railway with three-phase power (3600 V AC – 16.7 Hz). It was an epic undertaking, and the forerunner of an industrial business built to last.
Since then, generation after generation of people have helped to transform transport in Italy and around the world, with passion, sacrifice, tenacity and outstanding professionalism. We have lived through different eras, technological shifts and becoming part of major international groups, most recently joining GCF – Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie in 2024. A century of change, in which we have been at the forefront of the evolution of mobility and technology.
Over these hundred years, we have designed, supplied, installed and commissioned turnkey systems for high-speed and conventional railway lines, as well as mass rapid transit systems, in Italy and abroad.
Celebrating a hundred years is not only about looking back. It is a chance to reaffirm our commitment to keep innovating, with the same solidity and passion that have guided us all along. Plenty of track lies behind us, and just as much lies ahead as we continue to write our story.
