GCF – Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie has successfully concluded the acquisition from Colas Rail SAS (France) of 100% of the share capital of the Italian subsidiary Colas Rail Italia SpA, the Italian engineering and contracting expert in railway and public transport infrastructures and one of the leading players at national level in the electric traction systems.
Following this operation, the company Colas Rail Italia S.p.A., which maintains its organisational structure and registered office in San Donato Milanese (MI), changes the company name to G.C.F.E. – Generali Costruzioni Ferroviarie Elettriche S.p.A.
The Italian company was founded in 1926, when SAE, Società Anonima Elettrificazione, began electrification work on the Bolzano – Brennero double-track railway line. Today, G.C.F.E. employs around 168 highly qualified employees and successfully operates in the design, construction, commissioning, renewal and maintenance of turnkey technological systems for high-speed lines, traditional lines, urban, metropolitan and trolleybus transport systems.
