It is with great satisfaction that we announce a new important contract for our Company that, together with GCF Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie has been awarded the contract for the development of the High Speed Kenitra-Marrakech railway line for ONCF, Office National des Chemins de Fer.
Two lots were put out to tender by ONCF, the national railway operator in Morocco for the construction of the High-Speed Line (HS Line) Kenitra-Marrakech, the natural extension of the Tangeri–Kenitra line, the first high-speed line on the African continent inaugurated in 2018.
The consortium led by GCF with three companies from its own group (GCFE, GCFMA and Transalp Renouvellement) was awarded Lot 2, relating to the southern section Sidi El Aidi – Marrakech, for an amount of 140 M€.
The project includes the construction of approximately 200 km of 2×25 kV AC high-speed line, double track. The new line will enable trains to travel at 320km/h. The work must be completed and put into service by 2030 when Morocco, along with Spain and Portugal, will host the soccer World Cup.
GCFE will be the partner responsible for the detailed design, procurement, test & commissioning of the catenary system.

Kenitra – Marrakech HSR is part of Rail Morocco 2040 Plan which will support country’s strategy to decarbonise transport and to promote low-carbon mobility. The strategy includes the extension of the existing high-speed line between Tangiers and Kenitra to Marrakech, providing a high-speed rail link between the capital Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangiers.
